Kelly Gaskins Family cat: Bella Company/Position President/Founder Charleston Girl Philanthropy/Volunteer work I always try to give back to the community that has supported me whenever I can. I have had the opportunity to sponsor local softball teams and that has been an amazing experience. These teams would not be possible if it were not for the support of local sponsors so it is gratifying to be able to help. I also think it is very important to help those interested in business through mentoring and speaking engagements. Starting a business from scratch is wonderful but it can also be intimidating, so I am always open to help anyone who needs advice whether it be students, to relatives to complete strangers. At the end of October...

Gaskins’ perfume has not been one of them, and she...

Nearly three years ago, Lowcountry native Kelly Gaskins made a bold move. She quit her job in TV news, moved back in with her parents, and had no steady income. “I was working during the heart of the economic downturn. The economy tanking added to a lot of tension in the work place. Jobs were cut, co-workers were laid off,” said Charleston Girl founder, Kelly Gaskins. “Anchors that had been working for the station for years were getting laid off. I felt very disposable and undervalued as an employee.” She decided the only way to have complete control over future was to build a successful company from the ground up—the only problem was she didn’t have the slightest clue where to begin. “Forming any business for...

I definitely never expected someone to be able to take this scent and make it into a perfume. Well I must say that this perfume does have the Southern Charm that I have been looking for in a perfume. I was pleasantly surprised at how intriguing the smell is, when smelling this you get...
